Skinny Houses in San Miguel de Allende

I am always amazed when I am walking around San Miguel de Allende, especially when I spot a "skinny" house.
I think this is the skinniest house in town.  I would guess the interior width of the house to be about seven feet.  This is when bunk beds come in handy and flat screen TV's.
It is not uncommon to see a good size front door that has little or no exterior wall space surrounding it.  Once you enter the home, an interior hallway will lead you back into a larger courtyard and the home's interior.
The same goes for this home.  I just love those blue doors!
And talking about doors.  I had my sister-in-law, Susan, stand next to this door for scale.  You won't be bringing home big furniture to this house.
Keep your eyes peeled when walking around San Miguel.  You never know what you will discover!

Huaraches, step aside

Wednesday I wrote about Huaraches and how utilitarian and sturdy they are.
I had just finished comida with my family and my sister-in-law, Susan, and I decided to go for a walk up and down a bunch of streets, gradually working our way over to the market.  In the window of this little shoe store on Calle Hidalgo in the historic center of San Miguel de Allende were some great looking shoes.  One pair in particular caught our eye, were these black patent, very stylish, high, high heels with a platform sole.  Not one to leave my camera at home, I could not resist.
Like the slogan on the old Wheat Chex cereal commercial, "Let Mickey try it"...  Well, "Let Susan try them."  With hardly any coaxing on my part, she did.  The soles were a killer bright red.  We thought they were super cool, but can you imagine wearing them today, especially around San Miguel with all the cobblestone streets and sidewalks?  Maybe back in our twenties!

Meet Remy

This is Remy, Carter and Susan's Lakeland Terrier.  I have never known a dog to be so intuitive and eager to be part of the conversation. Her vocabulary is huge.  When I mention the word ball, she cocks her head to the side.  She was sitting on one of the equipale dining chairs just listening to us talk.  She does not miss a beat.  Mention someones name that she knows, she barks, and heads to the front door looking for them to come through the door.
I have never met a dog that likes to pose for photos as much as she does.  She literally stops, sits and looks right at you when you pull out a camera.
She loves to be bathed.  Does not like to smell bad, but then, who does.  She straddled the kitchen's double bowl sink as I lathered her up, scrubbed her and then rinsed her off.  Standing still and loving it the whole time.  I toweled her off and then took the hair dryer to her.  Once done, I have never seen her so excited.  She was jumping two feet off the floor and whirling around mid air.  If only I could get that excited when I get my hair done.
